Your Opinion

How do you think your life would be effected or how is it effected now if you knew/know a person with autism? How would you cope with how they would act and treat you? How do you think you would act differently if you were diagnosed with autism?

Background Information

Before we get started here is some background information on Autism. A common misconception about autism is that it is a mental illness. It is really a developmental disorder meaning that it is incurable and is found in people in the early stages of their lives. Autism can be found in anyone, although it is found 3:4 times more common in boys. It affects your daily life and how you act because it is concentrated on the social and communication skills. Although there is no cure for it, many things like therapies, diets, exercise, and medications can help control it. People with autism tend to have a special "talent" or something extra they are good at. Examples would be being able to recall facts quickly, a special skill in technology, or being extremely good at one subject like math. If there are any questions about autism or any of these facts above please post.
